About Your Role

We are looking for an experienced accountant and leader to join our team and lead our nonprofit division. 

 

You will have a pool of nonprofit clients assigned directly to you. You will report directly to the CEO/ business owner and work together on growing and expanding this division.  You'll have a chance to build long-lasting friendships with our team and the people we serve and positively impact their daily lives.

 

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

  • Client work 80%

    • Operate in a client-facing role and oversee a portfolio of clients, perform monthly close, prepare and present internal financial statements, hold virtual and occasional in-person meetings, provide CFO services (budgets, projections, management reports, etc.), prepare for and facilitate financial statements audit and 990 tax work.

    • Occasional help with bookkeeping, client onboarding (ex: cleaning up messy files), payroll, etc.

    • Occasional evening/weekend attendance at client meetings and events may be requested

    • Provide support to the team so they can fulfill their roles effectively.

    • Attend/lead team meetings and meetings with team members or external contacts, as required.

 

  • Operations 20%

    • Manage the nonprofit division’s internal “engine,” ensuring that client tasks at a firm level are well-planned, prioritized, are meeting their deadlines, and are completed at the highest level of quality

    • Be an integral part of internal SOPS development (create, update, and refine as needed).

    • Nurture the open, supportive culture of our team

    • Report directly to the CEO and be involved with strategic decisions of the firm and projects that improve the efficiency of our bookkeeping and financial reporting tasks firm-wide

 

What You Need to Succeed

  • Education and Work Experience

    • You have obtained your CPA designation  (preferred)  

    • You have experience in the nonprofit sector and have overseen the full accounting cycle

    • You have 3+ years of experience in an accounting firm managing multiple jobs/projects

    • You have experience managing a team, including everything from training to performance reviews

    • You have a high level of comfort in QuickBooks desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Excel and are a quick learner of new tech tools

    • You have experience putting together financial statements, budgets, cash-flow projections, and various financial reports to assist management in making decisions

    • You have an aptitude with technology and are open to implementing new tools 

 

  • Your Superpowers

    • You are ambitious, extremely organized, have a systematic approach to problem-solving, and have an aptitude for designing, documenting, and implementing internal systems and processes

    • You are a clear communicator

    • You love working in a multi-client environment and are excellent at managing and prioritizing many tasks

    • You believe in delivering awesome customer service, and you have experience in a customer-facing role

    • You are interested in productivity and implementing and/or tweaking systems to make things run smoother

    • You are a problem solver

    • You like working in a fast-paced environment

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full-time 35 hours/week

  • $80,000 - 95,000 DOE

  • Performance-based annual bonus

  • 3 weeks PTO

  • Paid 14 holidays per year, we close our virtual office for Christmas through New Year's Day winter holidays. 

  • 401K with a 4% employer match
